This is an academic year position working 40 weeks per year.

The Tufts Women’s Cross Country and Track & Field teams are seeking a replacement for our full-time 10 month Assistant Coach. This position will work from August 15 – June 15th annually with nights and weekend work included. The position requires coaching in the Fall (XC), Winter (Indoor T&F), and Spring (Outdoor T&F) seasons locally at practice and travel with the team on weekends. There is some admin work in addition to some manual labor (practice and meet set-up).


  • Practice: teaching and mentoring athletes in daily athletic activities (training plans, drills, strength training, recovery, injury prevention).
  • Meets: providing pre-meet instruction and guidance/goal setting; supervising and guiding athletes during competition; giving feedback post-performance.
  • Assist in fostering team culture and conduct team building activities; provide leadership training for captains; mentoring younger athletes in the program.
  • Assist in team management (instructing athletes on using team apps (Drivn and Front Rush), as well as maintaining a positive social media presence for program.
  • Assist in recruiting qualified student-athletes to Tufts; instruct team members on proper behavior/protocol for hosting overnight prospective SAs.
  • Alumni Engagement and Fundraising (using team social media platform).
  • Other administrative duties (i.e.: home meet management; record-keeping for program, performance lists, end of year summaries; compliance forms; etc.).

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Must have college distance running experience at a high level.
  • Have some knowledge of other events in track & field (sprints/jumps/hurdles/throws).
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be van certified to drive a Tufts vehicle.
