Dr. Julia Raifman is looking for a senior research associate who is a skilled scientific writer to work full time (40 hrs/wk) on NIH-funded studies at Boston University. Dr. Raifman’s work is focused on policy drivers of racial, ethnic, and LGBT health disparities and on structural barriers and facilitators of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) implementation to prevent HIV. Her prior work has been published in journals including JAMA Pediatrics, JAMA Psychiatry, and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and has been covered by the New York Times, National Public Radio, The Guardian, and The Advocate.

The Senior Research Associate will play a pivotal role in contributing to continued research on the relationship between LGBT rights and health and on reducing racial disparities in PrEP implementation. Studies will be based on analyses of All Payer Claims Data, publicly available data including the Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance System data, and clinical data. The Senior Research Associate should have an interest in social policies and health equity. Prior experience writing scientific manuscripts is desired.

The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in writing scientific manuscripts and compiling, cleaning, and analyzing datasets. The Senior Research Associate will be included as a co-author on papers to which they make substantial contributions and will have opportunities for professional development, leading their own research studies, and data analysis in keeping with their interests. The Senior Research Associate will have weekly check-in meetings with Dr. Raifman as well as attending a monthly seminar and a monthly lab session co-led by Dr. Raifman.
