Dr. Julia Raifman is looking for a postdoctoral fellow who is a skilled scientific writer to work full time (40 hrs/wk) on NIH-funded studies at Boston University. Dr. Raifman’s work is focused on policy drivers of racial, ethnic, and LGBT health disparities and on structural barriers and facilitators of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) implementation to prevent HIV. Her prior work has been published in journals including JAMA Pediatrics, JAMA Psychiatry, and the American Journal of Preventive Medicine and has been covered by the New York Times, National Public Radio, The Guardian, and The Advocate.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will play a pivotal role in contributing to continued research on the relationship between LGBT rights and health, social policies that affect racial/ethnic disparities, and on reducing racial/ethnic disparities in PrEP implementation. The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work with All Payer Claims Data, Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance System data, and clinical data to conduct these and other analyses. The Postdoctoral Fellow should have an interest in social policies and health equity. Prior experience writing scientific manuscripts is desired.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will play a key role in writing scientific manuscripts and compiling and analyzing datasets. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be included as a co-author on papers to which they make substantial contributions and will have opportunities for professional development, leading their own research studies, and data analysis in keeping with their interests. The Postdoctoral Fellow will have biweekly check-in meetings with Dr. Raifman as well as attending a monthly seminar and a monthly lab session co-led by Dr. Raifman. Applicants should have strong scientific writing skills and an interest in a research career.
