Overview:

Assist the Head Softball Coach with the coaching and developing a nationally competitive Division I Softball team. Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: coaching student-athletes; recruiting; game management; scouting; academic monitoring; practice organization; winter and summer camps; compliance travel; equipment purchasing and distribution. In addition to other administrative duties as assigned.

Description:

  • Assists head coach in evaluating student-athletes performance and design instructional opportunities to improve technical and strategic execution based on sound motor learning and biomechanical principles.
  • &#9;
  • Assists head coach in developing and implement a recruitment plan.
  • &#9;
  • Assists head coach in creating and reinforcing an environment of academic achievement, expectation, and success that supports and encourages academic progress and graduation; monitor the academic progress of student athletes; monitor class attendance and study halls as seen necessary.
  • &#9;
  • Assists head coach in coaching team competitive events. Assumes full team responsibility for organizing ad conducting competitive events.
  • &#9;
  • Ensures adherence to all governing rules, university, department, conference, NCAA policies and procedures, including student-athlete benefits.
  • &#9;
  • Proposes the strategies, goals and objectives for the sports program on a short and long-term basis.
  • &#9;
  • Represents and promotes professional conduct, university will and high standards at all promotional and media related events including games.
  • &#9;
  • May participate in fundraising activities for the program and development.
  • &#9;
  • Maintains an effective channel and level of communication and follow-through, emphasizing relationships with sport administrators and support services.
  • Position Summary:

    Major Duties of the job include:

    &#9;
  • On field duties of hitting, infield or outfield
  • &#9;
  • On field pitching
  • &#9;
  • Assist in the recruitment of prospective athletes within the framework of the university, department, conference and NCAA
  • &#9;
  • Analyze performance and instruct participants in program strategies and techniques to prepare them for competition
  • &#9;
  • Observe players while they perform to determine need for individual or team improvement
  • &#9;
  • Manage and operate video technology effectively to enhance player and team development
  • &#9;
  • Handle paperwork and related administrative responsibilities in a thorough, complete, timely manner and adhere to university and department fiscal procedures and practices
  • &#9;
  • Manage and supervise the softball facility maintenance and work directly with campus facilities on the day to day operations
  • &#9;
  • Assist head coach in team aspects such as daily (team) decisions
  • Secondary Duties of the job include:

  • Assist head coach with recruiting and academic
  • &#9;
  • Assist in the management of equipment budget, ordering, processing and distribution
  • &#9;
  • Assist in management of team travel
  • &#9;
  • Assist in the organizing and facilitating of camps/clinics
  • &#9;
  • Practice planning and periodization of offense and defensive workouts.
  • &#9;
  • Assist head coach in community relations
  • &#9;
  • Assist head coach in fundraising
  • Knowledge, Skills &amp;amp; Abilities:

    &#9;
  • Either played competitively or have specialized knowledge working with hitters, infield or outfield for a minimum of two (2)years
  • &#9;
  • Have strong communication and motivation skills
  • &#9;
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
  • &#9;
  • Ability to support the equity and diversity commitments of the department and University
  • &#9;
  • Cooperation professionally and collegiality with the media, the community, the University and the Athletic Department staff and administration
  • &#9;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds andproject a professional attitude
  • &#9;
  • A history of regular attendance and positive performance evaluations
  • Education and Experience:

    &#9;
  • Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher education which is accredited by one of the six U.S. regional accrediting associations or by an equivalent international institution of higher education
  • &#9;
  • Previous college softball OR baseball OR professional OR National Team experience whether it be playing or coaching OR success coaching at the high school or travel ball level for a minimum of two (2) years
  • Preferred Skills:

    &#9;
  • Computer and Video analysis and breakdown knowledge
  • &#9;
  • Recruiting ties and professional relationships with prospective travel ball and high school coaches
