Assistant Professor in Biomechanics Department of Exercise & Sport Studies

Job description

The Department of Exercise and Sport Studies at Smith College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with an expertise in Biomechanics, to begin July 2019. Candidates should be prepared to teach the equivalent of four 4-credit courses annually, including a graduate course in applied biomechanics, and develop and engage students in a scholarly research program. Candidates with analytical experience in computational biomechanics or mechanical modeling as they relate to movement and sport are encouraged to apply. The Department of Exercise and Sport Studies (http://www.smith.edu/ess) is a small department offering a variety of engaging undergraduate theoretical courses in physical activity, health, exercise and sport, as well as a wide range of performance courses. Our department has a top-rated graduate program in coaching education that blends classroom instruction with coaching experience. The successful candidate will be committed to helping our graduate students improve their coaching practice through development of strong foundational knowledge that complements application to exercise and sport.
