Job Description:
The Department of Chemistry at Furman University invites applications to fill an open-rank, tenure-track positions to begin in August 2019. The position is in the area of analytical or physical chemistry. Applicants must hold a Ph. D. in chemistry with postdoctoral experience strongly preferred. Furman has a strong history of excellent teaching and mentoring, including a vigorous year-round research program with undergraduate students. In support of this program, the department maintains state-of-the-art research facilities with instrument holdings matching those found at many Ph. D. granting institutions. The successful candidate is expected to establish a nationally competitive undergraduate research program and be an excellent classroom instructor. The department is particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service.

Required application materials: 1) A cover letter addressing your qualifications and commitment to a research active, undergraduate program. Include a description of how your teaching, scholarship, mentoring and service might contribute to a liberal arts college community that includes a commitment to diversity as one of its core values (2 pages max); 2) a curriculum vitae; 3) undergraduate and graduate transcripts; 4) a combined statement of teaching and research philosophy (2 pages max); 5) a detailed research plan (4 pages max); and 6) three letters of references are to be sent to chemistry@furman.edu.
