ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR FOR VETERINARY CLINICAL CARE
Duties: The Associate Director will lead veterinary clinical care services to research animals on the Philadelphia campus of the University of Pennsylvania, serving more than 120,000 animals belonging to scientists of the Schools of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering and Applied Science, Arts and Sciences and Dental Medicine. Duties will include, but not limited to: supervise 5 other veterinarians, 10 veterinary technicians and up to 6 residents in their provision of veterinary clinical care to a wide variety of animal species including rats, mice, nonhuman primates, sheep, pigs, dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and small numbers of other animal species; provide hands-on clinical veterinary care to research and teaching animals.
Qualifications: Highly advanced professional discipline. D.V.M., V.M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree is required and 5 years to 7 years of experience in laboratory animal medicine providing clinical veterinary care or equivalent combination of education and experience; currently licensed in at least one state in the United States and be eligible for a veterinary license in Pennsylvania. Board Certification by ACLAM required; strong organizational, leadership and communication skills; supervisory experience strongly preferred. This is a full-time administrative staff position. The selected candidate needs to have regulatory and clinical experience qualifying them to back-up the Attending Veterinarian.
