The Arkansas Forest Resources Center is headquartered at the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus in partnership with the School of Forestry & Natural Resources. The Arkansas Forest Resources Center, a University of Arkansas Center of Excellence, has the mission of developing and delivering superior programs in research and extension that enhance and ensure the sustainability of forest-based natural resources. Research is administered through the Arkansas Agricultural Experiment Station.

Summary of Job Duties
The program technician will work independently on assigned duties ranging from coordinating and conducting field and lab work, assisting graduate and undergraduate student with projects, and coordinating, analyzing, and interpreting data using spatial and statistical software. Research related responsibilities will include but not limited to capture and marking of waterfowl and other avian species, operating lab equipment, maintenance of laboratory facilities, data management and collection, statistical and spatial analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to attain lead role on data management, collaborate on analysis, and report writing. Expectations to present findings at conferences, and prepare and submit manuscripts for publication in leading research journals.

B.S. degree in Wildlife Management or closely related field in Natural Resources; experience handling waterfowl; experience with managing data files.

Strong quantitative background; experience with spatial analysis and statistical software such as SAS, R, and ArcGIS.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Knowledge of field and laboratory safety procedures.
Good oral and written communication skills. Willingness and ability to work outdoors, in adverse weather conditions.
Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
