Director of Diversity
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to establish a new Office of Diversity at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. The Director will serve as a liaison between students and administration regarding their needs to maintain a culture that is inclusive, respectful and in keeping with our Mission. https://som.rowan.edu/oursom/leadership/
Working with the offices of Faculty Affairs and Admissions, the Director of Diversity will provide guidance on recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty, staff and students, in keeping with our Mission. This position will report directly to the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, and work closely with the Assistant Vice President of Equity and Diversity as well as the Director of Inclusion and Social Justice at Rowan University in Glassboro for cohesion between campuses. The Director will also work closely with the Assistant Dean for Curriculum, advising on educational programming for cultural competency, social determinants of health and health disparities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Master’s degree in related field (For example, but not limited to Sociology, Human Services, HR management, Social Work) with 5 years of higher education administration experience. Grant-writing experience a must. Leadership experience with direct supervision of individuals. Effective conflict resolution skills and the ability to find mutually acceptable solutions to difficult problems. Able to build consensus, find support and reconcile competing interests. Strong communication skills (verbal and written). Experience in medical education is preferred, as is two years of experience as a diversity officer or other similar title.
