Advertised Job Summary: The Program Coordinator I (Homeless Support Liaison) will function as a part of the South Carolina Child Care Resource & Referral Network team that coordinates with homeless coalitions throughout the state to support more efficient eligibility determination and connections among families who are homeless and the South Carolina Voucher System. In addition, the Homeless Support Liaison will coordinate the development of training and professional resources to ensure that early childhood educators and community partners become aware of the unique needs facing children and families who are homeless as it relates to all the core components of the Department of Social Services, Division of Early Care and Education grant requirements. This position is part-time working 25 hours per week. For this position, the candidate must obtain the credential from the Center for Child Care Career Development for a South Carolina Certified Trainer within 12 months of employment. JOB DUTIES INCLUDE: Consumer Awareness: Promote to ensure homeless children enroll in, as well as have a full and equal opportunity to succeed in, early childhood settings including making families aware of the financial opportunities available such as child care vouchers. Ensure that homeless families are aware of educational services for which they are eligible, including Head Start and preschool programs. Referral Services: Assist with referrals to health care services, dental services, mental health services and other appropriate services. Assist community partners (school districts, homeless coalitions, family shelters, early childhood programs, etc.) to develop and implement strategies to identify homeless families with children to receive educational services. Ensure public notice of the educational rights of homeless children is disseminated where they receive services, such as school district, family shelters, and soup kitchens. Training: Conduct and develop partnerships with appropriate partners in the community to offer training opportunities for parents, business community, and early childhood programs at times and locations convenient to stakeholders to identify homeless families and children. Promote awareness of services and resources that are available in the local community. Other: Assist other departments with major projects and perform other resource and referral duties as needed including planning and implementing the "Statewide Awareness of Homeless Children Campaign". Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Master's degree and 3 years relevant program experience, or a bachelor's degree and 5 years relevant program experience.
