The Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC) is seeking an Instructional Designer to develop a series of educational videos for an online program on the fundamentals of cybersecurity. The program will be designed for non-specialist audiences (such as Congressional staff) as part of a policy outreach project. The instructional designer will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing the program using raw video from various lecture and in-class instruction sessions. The instructional designer will work with members of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning team to develop and deliver the program. Knowledge of cybersecurity is a plus but not necessary for this role. This is a one-year fixed term position.




JOB PURPOSE:




Operate independently to design and develop learning solutions to support overall curriculum. Contribute to the development of standards for online and instructor-led course development, participant and instructor materials, online performance support solutions, and learning evaluation.




CORE DUTIES*:


  • Perform analysis of learning and business needs.
  • Proactively consult with subject matter experts to identify and formulate learning objectives and content. Design learning and performance support solutions.
  • Draft storyboards and prototypes.
  • Design and develop course content, instructor and participant materials, including performance support materials.
  • Implement, evaluate and maintain learning solutions.
  • May participate in extensive user acceptance testing and quality measurement for newly created courses and web materials.
  • Interact with vendor during design, development and implementation process as needed. Share best practices through cross campus collaboration and instructional design community.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:




Education & Experience:




Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience or combination of education and relevant experience.




Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Demonstrated eectiveness in consulting with business partners and subject matter experts to assess learning needs and recommend sound solutions.
  • Demonstrated prociency in applying instructional design theory, models, and best practices. Demonstrated prociency using instructional design tools such as learning project plans, design documents, learning hierarchies, storyboards, prototypes, etc.
  • Ability to clearly and succinctly convey learning content in a manner that engages learners and improves retention rates.
  • Demonstrated application of adult learning principles and methods.
  • Demonstrated prociency and experience in industry standard tools such as authoring tools, digital, graphics media, audio, animation and video production tools to create impactful courses.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate the effectiveness of learning materials. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work eectively in a team environment. Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.






Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Knowledge of educational psychology and inquiry learning preferable.
  • Experience developing educational materials for of non-academic audiences preferable.






PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:


  • Frequently stand/walk, sit, use a computer; use a telephone, grasp lightly/ne manipulation. Occasionally reach/work above shoulders, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds, write by hand, sort/le paperwork.
  • Rarely kneel/crawl, operate foot and/or hand controls.
