Position Summary: The position shares responsibility for managing and updating the business systems that support the billing and collection of student accounts and the centralized deposits for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, under the direction of the Assistant Director - Systems & Accounting. The primary system supported is the student financials component of PeopleSoft's Campus Solutions, which includes the billing and collection of tuition, fees and other associated student charges, the disbursement of student financial aid credit balances and the issuance of federal form 1098T. The position also supports the centralized deposit system, which is part of the University's Financial System. The position also supports the integration of the student system with external systems like TouchNet, TMS and the University's financial system. The position works with the operations and internal systems/accounting team and information technology support, ensuring that system issues are identified and resolved, bundles, upgrades and enhancements are tested and implemented and that routine processes are automated and monitored. The position requires a theoretical understanding of business systems, a general understanding of how receivables are managed, and the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications. The position helps manage the testing and implementation of fixes and enhancements.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Qualification and Experience: The position requires a theoretical understanding of business systems, an understanding of managing receivables and collections, and the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications. Independent decision-making and the exercise of good judgment are critical. Knowledge of or clear demonstration of ability to learn and apply federal, State and campus policies that govern financial systems is essential. Excellent organizational skills and exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively with office colleagues, other campus users and technical staff in other campus departments, exhibiting diplomacy and professionalism. Ability to learn and use complex business systems at both the technical and user levels. Attention to detail and accuracy in oral presentation and written materials are essential. Evening, weekend and overtime maybe be required occasionally. Minimum of one year of education and/or direct experience utilizing PeopleSoft's Student and Finance applications and prior student financial information technology experience within a state or university environment are preferable. Experience with database management, all Microsoft office products, billing systems, receivables systems and collection systems preferred.
