Job description

Position SummaryDevelop the website and content management system (CMS) for NYU Steinhardt on the Drupal platform. Create additional web applications and features to engage and serve the needs of prospective students, current students, faculty, alumni, parents, and other NYU Steinhardt constituents, using scalable programming and scripting languages such as PHP, SQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, on platforms such as Symfony, Drupal, and WordPress. Create scripts, programs, databases, and interfaces on a daily basis. As a member of Steinhardt's integrated web and marketing team, bring ideas, creativity, and an understanding of current and emerging trends in website development to content management solutions for the 100+ websites operating within the School. Create, maintain, and analyze various user response interactive forms and publications. Monitor usage and ensure functionality of websites; analyze problems, propose and implement solutions.QualificationsRequired Education:Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.Preferred Education:Master’s degree in Computer ScienceRequired Experience:3 years of web programming experience in Drupal, maintaining websites and databases, access and security, and creating and modifying scripts or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Preferred Experience:Prior experience working in an academic environment.Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Excellent organizational, planning, and verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to translate technical jargon into daily language in order to communicate effectively with team members and clients. Excellent work ethic and ability to work both independently and in a team. Proven ability to monitor and analyze web site problems. Ability to monitor, analyze, and report on server performance and use. Advanced knowledge of Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP Drupal, Symfony, and Git. Thorough knowledge of HTML, XHTML, and Javascript. Capable of performing system and software upgrades.Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Customer service experience in the technology field.
