<p><strong>Summary</strong><br /> The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU), a research, policy and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the work of public universities in the US, Canada and Mexico, is seeking an Associate Director for the Personalized Learning Consortium (PLC) to manage several exciting and complex national initiatives to advance the use of digital and adaptive learning within higher education. Successful candidates will be a collaborative team member and capable of working with a broad range of individuals and constituencies across the United States. For more information, consult</p> <p><br /> <strong>Background</strong><br /> The Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) is a research, policy, and advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening and advancing the work of public universities in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With a membership of 238 public research universities, land-grant institutions, state university systems, and affiliated organizations, APLU's agenda is built on the three pillars of increasing degree completion and academic success, advancing scientific research, and expanding engagement. APLU undertakes a wide array of projects and initiatives along with its members and provides a forum for public higher education leaders to work collaboratively and better meet the challenges and opportunities facing public universities. Annually, APLU member campuses enroll 4.7 million undergraduates and 1.2 million graduate students, award 1.2 million degrees, employ 1.4 million faculty and staff, and conduct $42.7 billion in university-based research.</p> <p><br /> APLU’s Personalized Learning Consortium (PLC) offers participating institutions a robust strategy for understanding, implementing and scaling the use of technologies designed to personalize and improve the education experience. Comprised of 14 universities, the consortium fosters multi-institutional cooperation and collaboration among academic affairs leaders to advance the use of technology to improve student learning, retention, and graduation. For more information, consult (Hiring for this position is contingent upon confirmation of funding.)</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement strategy for all Digital Learning Solutions Network (DLSN) activities. Provide effective technical assistance to scale digital learning initiatives to targeted four-year universities.</li> <li>Provide day-to-day grant management and coordination of all digital learning grant funded activities, including developing, implementing and managing planning process, work plans and activity schedules to meet project objectives. Report on grant requirements.</li> <li>Manage project assessment and evaluation, including designing, implementing, collecting and analyzing required institutional data and directing evaluations and assessments of project-related activities. Incorporate project learnings into project activities.</li> <li>Communicate project results to internal and external stakeholders at meetings, conferences and other convenings.</li> <li>Prepare project reports, research briefs and other relevant documents to communicate project results. Publish research in key academic journals.</li> <li>Supervise other grant personnel as requested, collaborate with PLC/APLU program staff, and manage relationship with university partners, subcontractors, and vendors as appropriate.</li> <li>Coordinate with the PLC Executive Director to develop grant proposals and associated budgets for multiple funding agencies to support the ongoing work of the DLSN.</li> <li>Work as a team member to ensure the efficient and effective operations of the PLC.</li> </ul> <p><br /> <strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Master’s Degree required, doctoral degree preferred, in relevant area.</li> <li>Two plus years of progressive experience in project planning, project implementation and management, supervision of project staff, and collaboration with organizational partners.</li> <li>Experience with digital learning, especially scaling adaptive courseware, online education, instructional design, technology enabled education/training, curriculum development and/or professional development.</li> <li>Experience, ability and desire to interface with high-level university leaders.</li> <li>Experience with qualitative and quantitative research or program evaluation.</li> <li>Strong people management skills including the ability to provide direction and leadership of indirect reports. Demonstrated success in working in a matrixed professional environment. Experience working with and managing sub-contractors and consultants.</li> <li>Ability to schedule and lead efficient and productive meetings both in person and via web-based communication tools.</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to work independently, establish priorities and exercise sound judgment in response to complex and sensitive situations.</li> <li>Excellent written and oral communication skills.
