Ceramics Lab Technician (PT)

Job description

The Ceramics Lab Technician is responsible to the Dean for Communications, Humanities and Arts. This position supports the Ceramics Department and assists in the preparation and cleaning of ceramics materials.

Open the studio and keep it clean.

Load, fire and unload kilns.

Wash, clean and scrape kiln shelves every firing.

Clean and upkeep of outdoor kiln yard.

Mix clays for all the beginning students.

Make glazes, kiln wash and wadding material.

Assist students during open studio hours.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
High school diploma required. Associates degree preferred.

One year experience in ceramics required.

Ability to lift 35 pounds independently required.

Must be able to work independently and follow directions.

Must be able to work various hours, including evenings and weekends.
