Minimum Qualifications:

1) An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in Educational Foundations or closely-related field (e.g. educational psychology, philosophy of education, sociology of education) from an accredited institution is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/15/2019).

2) Evidence of successful teaching in higher education.

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Evidence of successful teaching experience with pre-service teacher candidates and undergraduate and graduate students.
2) Documented experience working in K-12 settings, student services in higher education, or community-based educational programs.  
3) Training and experience in cultural-historical, sociocultural, socio-cognitive, and/or social constructivist approaches to the psychological foundations of education, human development, and/or critical learning theory.
4) Evidence of publications in academic peer-reviewed outlets.

Duties:

The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate, teacher credential, and M.A. level courses that address the individual and social cognitive bases of learning, philosophy of education, and critical learning theories to students pursuing K-12 teaching credentials or other career paths in formal or informal educational environments.
