Admissions Counselor

Bridgewater College is seeking a team-oriented, energetic person to join the Admission Office team as an Admissions Counselor.  Counselors participate in all aspects of the admissions process, while focusing on the successful recruitment and enrollment of a diverse student population. Counselors must represent Bridgewater College professionally both on and off campus. This position requires frequent weekend work, as well as extended travel, which will include overnight recruitment trips both in and out of state. The primary recruiting season takes place in the fall and requires consecutive weeks of travel; infrequent additional travel will occur in the spring and summer. The successful candidate will also conduct interviews with prospective students and their families, as well as evaluate student applications to make admissions decisions. In addition, counselors build relationships with prospective students, high school counselors, and alumni and friends of the college through a variety of communication avenues.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • Ability to convey the value of a liberal arts education through excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of presenting to diverse audiences in a variety of venues.
  • Manage multiple tasks and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to focus on details.
  • High level of energy, enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and social media; experience with CRM software is preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

General Information

Bridgewater offers Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees in more than 60 majors and minors, along with multiple areas of emphasis and concentrations, pre-professional programs such as medicine and law, dual degree programs and teacher certification. The college is a member of NCAA Division III and the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, with 23 intercollegiate athletic teams.
