The University of Maryland Institute for Advanced Computer Studies (UMIACS) and the Department of Computer Science (CS) are seeking a facilities coordinator to manage all aspects of the maintenance, renovation, and security of the space assigned to both units.
Reporting to the Executive Director for Administration & Operations in UMIACS and the Director of Operations in CS, the incumbent will provide proactive facility support to unit members by managing workflow of all incoming facility requests to include general maintenance needs, renovation coordination, equipment inventory record keeping, furniture needs, and managing security access.
- Tracking and communicating space assignments
- Planning and coordinating moves
- Placing requests for maintenance and renovation work and ensuring completion of requested jobs
- Ensuring space is appropriately furnished and outfitted for intended use
- Manage security access via swipe cards and keys
- Manage receiving and parking and telecom assignments
- Other projects/duties as assigned
Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of experience in project management, facilities planning/management, or other highly detail oriented and communication intensive professional work environment. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the degree, though a degree is preferred. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and self-directed, resourceful and conscientious, and collegial and accommodating. Superlative skills in the following areas are necessary for success in this position: organization/record keeping, strategic planning, communication (with members of the department/institute, and with facilities management personnel), and customer service.
