Position Summary: The NC Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center (NC OSHERC) is one of 18 national education and research centers funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and serves eight Southeastern states (NC, SC, FL, GA, AL, MS, TN, KY). The NC OSHERC carries out academic occupational safety and health (OSH) training, research training, outreach and continuing education. The Outreach and Continuing Education (CE) Program Director leads both the Outreach Core and the CE Program of the NC OSHERC and reports to the Director, NC OSHERC. This position works closely with the Director, NC OSHERC and oversees the overall strategy of the Outreach program of the NC OSHERC in order to facilitate the translation of OSH findings into practice and engage public, private and professional OSH communities, including under-served and under-represented groups. This position also serves as the programmatic lead for the NC OSHERC continuing education program, working with NC OSHERC and departmental faculty, external OSH experts and continuing education staff in the Gillings School to design, deliver, and evaluate an expansive continuing education program to meet targeted interdisciplinary needs of OSH professionals.

Education Requirements: Master's degree in public health or occupational safety and health discipline with certification in the discipline preferred.
Qualification and Experience: Minimum qualifications for this position include at least 3 years of experience in the occupational safety and health field with broad knowledge of and experience working within the accepted practices of OSHA and other OSH agency regulations, standards and systems as well as demonstrated skill in project management. A successful candidate will have proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, problem solve and resolve conflicts effectively, a demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations and staff, and the ability to interact with a wide range of students, faculty, and collaborators, ranging from policy makers to practitioners to community members. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required with grant writing preferred. Position requires travel across North Carolina, the Southeastern US and beyond for meetings, trainings, and conferences.
