Career Services Advisor   (Req. 28349)

This position is responsible for coordinating and facilitating career services for students and alumni, working directly with students as well as staff and faculty from across the Fielding School of Public Health. This position will work closely with the Director of Career Services and collaborate with FSPH faculty and External Relations staff to maintain strong relations with the Public Health employment community and traditional and non-traditional opportunities locally and globally. This position will coordinate programming in collaboration with FSPH external affairs, campus partners, student leadership, and alumni groups to support efforts for career education, employment recruitment, and professional networking opportunities. This position will advise FSPH students in career decision-making, self-assessment, career options, goal setting, career research, professional communication, and the job/internship search process. Additional responsibilities include coordinating and facilitating workshops and events regarding career opportunities and job search skills and to recruit speakers (including alumni and prospective employers). This position will maintain an online content management database and online career planning and job search resources, including social media pages.

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Psychology, or related field, with related experience in public health or related human or social services; or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Knowledge of data gathering and analyses, including analyzing information, problems, situations or procedures to formulate objective conclusions while recognizing alternatives.
  • Familiarity with and interest in public health fields including knowledge of employer recruiting strategies, job market trends, occupational, career and
    employment information sources.
  • Demonstrated experience in speaking to a variety of audiences, working with multicultural populations, facilitating workshops and presentations to diverse audiences, and advising or training diverse groups.
  • Computer skills and proficiency to support fiscal, evaluation, marketing, reporting and presentations for the career services office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook Office, PowerPoint, Survey Monkey, Google drive, Box, Canva, and other software that may be utilized to complete job tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team oriented environment, to follow through with minimal direction and to independently work.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to obtain and convey information accurately and clearly.
