Position Summary:

    • Teach and facilitate the learning process for students.  Learn and use new technology and apply diverse instructional strategies in response to new technology.  Responsible for teaching 4our courses at the first and second year levels.
    • Plan activities outside the classroom and prepare students for China Study Abroad.
    • Administers, implements and evaluates outreach activities including curriculum development, and educational exchange for Confucius Classroom development. 
    • Apply diverse instructional strategies in response to learner demographics and learning styles.
    • Work with the Confucius Class to organize all logistics associated with Confucius Institute (NCSU).
    • Review files for continued audit readiness and provide consultation and leadership regarding China global initiatives to include:  (1) Liaison to Confucius Institute (NCSU) and Chinese organizations; (2) Document Translations; (3) Design Chinese Cultural Activities; and (4) Inventory current materials and supplies provided by Confucius Institute (NCSU)
    • Provide updates for Saint Augustine’s University (SAU) website and create marketing collateral for various initiatives associated with the Confucius Classroom. 
    • Understand and embrace the mission of SAU.
    • Assist with recruitment and retention across the department, community and business partners. 
    • Preforms other job-related duties as assigned in support of the University’s goals and core values.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements:

Master’s degree in Chinese or other discipline offered at the University with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Chinese or native speaker. Knowledge and skills in a variety of computer and software applications, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint).  Willingness to learn and/or have experience in the use of instructional technologies to teach traditional, hybrid and/or distance learning classes and/or as a supplement.  Excellent oral, written and listening skills. 



Physical Requirements:

Walking, sitting, standing, squatting and lifting a minimum of 20- 25 pounds.
