Administrative Systems is one of Stanford's University IT organizations, providing computing and communication infrastructure and support for the teaching, learning and business activities of the University. This position is responsible for growing its advancement team that drives to deliver outstanding business and technical solutions to staff, alumni and the public. The incumbent will also partner with clients to identify strategic direction and priorities, model/map business requirements, and recommend process changes to assure the delivery of quality results, using Salesforce native solutions whenever feasible. The role will serve as project manager on small to large projects, as assigned and will engage in and/or lead multiple Agile projects at one time, working with local team members and offshore partners. This position goes beyond the traditional analyst and project manager role to lead motivated teams and guarantee successful solutions with an eye to successfully assessing and mitigating risk.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Partner with customers and business management to define the appropriate business and technical solutions.
  • Guide customers to well-defined, prioritized requirements and assess best fit to native Salesforce and AppExchange solutions, in partnership with the engineering team.
  • Partner with engineering, data and UX/UI teams on application specifications and system enhancements to determine feasibility of requests, ensure appropriateness of design, and set realistic timelines and milestones.
  • Configure and customize Salesforce and related applications as necessary to build solutions.
  • Maintain cutting edge Salesforce knowledge and experience, and grow the analyst and engineering teams' capabilities in native Salesforce
  • Coordinate various testing efforts including creating system test plans, identifying test scenarios, managing user-acceptance testing and conducting production roll out in a timely manner.
  • Develop functional specifications to ensure compliance with system development lifecycle methods.
  • Collaborate with engineering resource manager to manage relationship and work efforts with offshore partners.
  • Perform scheduling, task assignment, and review of work throughout the project and maintenance life cycle. Ensure work timeliness, cost management, and quality. Assist the project manager in developing project scope, schedule, and resources.
  • Perform necessary business and system analyses to gather all pertinent data related to issues in production system, patches, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Provide status reports to business and DS management at the weekly PMO meeting.
  • Collaborate with peers to coordinate enterprise-wide integration requirements.
  • Coordinate production support, and provide application performance metrics to business partners and DS management.
  • Provide leadership and insight on Salesforce road mapping during strategy and planning sessions.

Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree and ten years of increasingly technical work experience, or a combination of education and relevant experience. Must have substantial managerial experience in formulating, planning, leading, directing, and controlling a complex, broad, and highly technical function.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Deep and diverse experience implementing Salesforce solutions
  • Strong Salesforce configuration experience
  • Strong capabilities in data mapping, conversion, table structure knowledge, configuration settings, page customizations, running SQL queries,
  • Strong capabilities in issues analysis and recommendations, test scripts development, functional analysis, coordination of user acceptance and sign-off, business process improvement, fit/gap analysis, requirements documentation and process flow charting, presentation of options and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of the components of web applications.
  • Strong understanding of the software development life cycle and methodologies
  • Solid understanding of project management body of knowledge discipline.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with minimum direction.
  • Ability to establish effective, ongoing relationships with clients, staff and management.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work under pressure in high stress situations.
  • Ability to manage and lead teams, including work assignments and prioritization,
  • Ability to analyze and report on data and use data analytics for decision making
  • Strong understanding of marketing automation processes and tools, and ability to identify and implement CRM and marketing campaign solutions
  • Experience working with distributed teams
