Posting Summary:
The Institute for Business in Society at the Darden School of Business seeks a motivated research professional to join its team.

The Associate Director, Research initiatives, collaborates with faculty to create and execute multidisciplinary research plans in Business and Society. The Associate Director generates thought leadership and other content on Business in Society issues, and assists in the development of data resources, literature reviews, and empirical studies that will aid faculty in producing publishable academic work.

The Research Professional will be the Institute for Business in Society's key champion of its research strategy and operation. In collaboration with the Executive Director, the successful candidate will develop research projects with specific faculty, and build strategies for publication, translation, and dissemination of key findings to stakeholders including business practitioners and policy makers.

The Research Professional will develop new research projects and products from existing primary research content, leveraging a leveraging research from a variety of disciplines to motivate thought leadership across other disciplines, and to establish Darden and UVA as the world's premier institutions for business in society scholarship and ideas.

Position responsibilities include:
Meet regularly with Darden and other UVA faculty to determine research support needs;
Produce recommendations for research support;
Collaborate with faculty, staff, and undergraduate/graduate students to execute against research support decisions.
Under faculty direction, lead and create research products, including original data sets, statistical and econometric analysis, etc.
Collaborate with faculty on publishable academic work;
Translate scholarly work for different audiences?produce a steady stream of thought leadership pieces rooted in scholarly publications, but pitched at practitioners, policy makers, and general audiences;
Coordinate across centers and institutes to highlight faculty, alumni, and student work in the research context;
Write and contribute to case studies for the Darden classroom and case collection.
Maintain contacts with non-UVA scholars across disciplines working in business and society; leverage these contacts to assist faculty in building an ecosystem of business in society scholars;
Contribute ideas and written content to the fundraising case for Darden's business in society activities, with research products that make a clear case to alumni and donor prospects for additional support for faculty, research, and the development of ideas at Darden.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of academic scholarly literature in a social science discipline or disciplines. Excellent writing and communication skills for various audiences.
Excellent written and oral communications.
Ability to work with faculty productively.
Ability to work productively with a diverse team with varying levels of experience with academic research and to lead cross-functionally as appropriate.
