Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree required, focus in communications, design, event planning, or related areas preferred.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Top candidates will have a minimum of one to two years of previous experience in all aspects of event planning, as well as two years of copywriting, designing for print and the web (including social networks). Extensive knowledge of, and skill working with, WordPress, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator. Knowledge of and experience using other web development and programming technologies. Detailed and extensive use of Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat required. Strong copywriting, artistic, and design and layout skills.
License or certificate:
This position is responsible for independently planning, coordinating, and implementing successful, cost-effective communications, outreach strategies, and events designed to support the department's strategic priorities, programs, services, and mission. It requires an understanding of the sensitivities of the department's stakeholders and customers and the ability to work with a variety of internal and external constituencies and local partners. The position develops the department communications strategy and coordinates complex activities. This position establishes and maintains effective communication links with internal college communication and advancement offices, students and staff, and external constituencies including alumni, visitors, donors, industry partners, and potential faculty hires.
