The AVP of Safety and Security is seeking qualified individuals for the Director of Threat Assessment role. The Director of Threat Assessment is a key member of the Department of Safety and Security leadership team and reports to the Associate Vice President for Safety and Security. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing strategic vision and initiatives in support of and in alignment with the university and department mission and goals and Director oversees the University of Virginia's behavioral threat assessment activities and provides coordination and case management for the University of Virginia's Threat Assessment Team (TAT) in support of the Code of Virginia section 23.1-805. Violence Prevention committee; threat assessment team.
A Bachelors Degree in psychology, social work, criminal justice, human services or similar course of study is required. A Master's Degree in a related field is highly desirable. Three years of progressive experience into a leadership role in case management/social work, clinical counseling, behavioral threat assessment or related field is required. Three years management level experience leading a team or being directly responsible for a department or business unit and/or previous experience in threat assessment is preferred. Experience developing and delivering training to students, employees and others on a wide variety of violence prevention and/or threat assessment related topics is desirable.
Applicants are required to possess the ability to develop strategic plans that include benchmarking, assessment, and reporting and the ability to analyze data, aggregate information and conduct statistical analysis. Knowledge of or ability to quickly grasp FERPA, Clery, Title IX, VAWA, Code of Virginia 23.1-805 and other statutes as they relate to threat assessment is essential. The ability to author and edit policies, procedures, training curriculum, outreach programs, and website content and knowledge of record keeping related to case management with an emphasis on accuracy are required. Understanding of the unique environment and culture of higher education, skill in working as a business partner with all levels of management including executive level leadership and faculty, and knowledge and/or skills in coordinating multi-disciplinary responses to threats are preferred.
Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is required.
