Dr. Swaminathan's lab has a established focus to study iron homeostasis and transport pathways in tissue injury and repair with a particular focus on kidney disease. His lab is planning to recruit a research scientist to join the team. The ideal candidate will have strong training and skillset in immunology, molecular biology and biochemistry, working with transgenic animals and experience in techniques such as fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry and other immunologic techniques. Any experience with animal surgery will be a plus.
This position requires a doctoral degree and three years of post-doc experience or master's degree with eight years of experience. Candidates are expected to have independent thinking and ability to generate hypotheses, and perform assigned tasks independently. In addition to a firm background in the particular field, the candidate should demonstrate the ability to lead small groups and work and troubleshoot without additional supervision once initial design and methods of approach are set.
