IT Shared Services (ITSS) is part of the Finance Division of The University of North Texas System. The mission of ITSS is simple: to be the best at delivering customer-aligned IT solutions and services. Our services are provided to all member institutions using an IT shared services governance model.

IT Shared Services provides the primary technology used by all campuses to support their operations. These include: shared resources of data centers, computing hardware, software applications, network and voice communications, collaboration and productivity capabilities, central web services, risk management, and security and compliance services. Job Description
The ITSS-Telecom Services Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Telecommunications Analyst III to join our team. This position performs advanced supervisory (senior-level) telecommunications engineering/analysis work. Work involves selecting and integrating system components for voice or data telecommunications networks, and installing, maintaining, or coordinating the installation and maintenance of telecommunications networks and computer hardware attached to these networks. May supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Supervise Telecommunications workgroup teams providing telephony services -Customer Service, Installation, Maintenance and Purchasing
* Provide support to UNT System and Components
* Install, configure and maintain communications equipment and software applications
* Research, analyze, test and implement enhanced technical communications equipment and services
* Consult, plan, engineer and install new, renovated and churned communications infrastructures
* Develop and maintain preventative maintenance programs
* Oversee and perform moves, adds, and changes
* Utilize software applications to research, update, and produce electronic media reports
* Write technical specifications
* Administer and maintain telephony equipment and services
* Estimate costs and allocate appropriately to user departments
* Track equipment and services
* Handle and dispatch work orders and trouble tickets

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in related field and four years communications and/or networking experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

* Extensive knowledge of principles of computing and communications networks.
* Knowledge of IT hardware and software architecture and operating systems.
* Strong oral and written communications skills.
* Supervisory skills and abilities.
* Ability to operate IT equipment and software and to install and configure communications
* Assimilate, retain, and utilize technical information.
* Analyze varied courses of action and participate in strategic planning.
* Work with considerable independence and initiative.
* Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
* Function responsibly during emergency problem solving situations.
* Knowledge of safety and security precautions
* Capability to lift and move items averaging about 60 pounds
* Ability to ascend and descend ladders with tools, cables, equipment, etc.
* Work in confined areas crawlspace, ceilings, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* ITIL Foundations certification.
* Strong understanding of VOIP, Cloud technologies, telephony platform and managing large telecom deployments.
