The University of Kentuckys Facilities Management - Utilities & Energy Management is seeking two Utilities Systems Superintendents.

Reporting to the Utilities Systems Manager, this position leads in planning and implementing effective and efficient maintenance and operations of Utilities heating/cooling facilities, systems, and equipment; provides work management and administrative direction to Utilities Systems Supervisors; communicates and meets routinely with Utilities Systems Manager to define and prioritize needs in order to meet short and long-term goals. The Superintendent executes priorities in order to improve response time and facilities/equipment reliability; develops Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) to be measured to ensure campus utilities requirements are met in accordance with established procedures and processes; oversees utilities preventative maintenance schedules, frequencies, and equipment types as well as the activation and de-activation of equipment. Utilizing established systems, ensures maintenance tasks, schedules, and completions are monitored for compliance with required standards and communicated directly with staff members; collaborates with supervisors to ensure accurate and complete information regarding maintenance repairs, including type of work performed, time to perform, parts used, and equipment work was performed on is accurately documented; develops and implements preventative methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve outcomes. The incumbent analyses information, uses logic, and develops new ideas and responses to address work-related issues and problems; and adheres to established University policies and procedures as well as stays current on changing policies and procedures.

In addition, the Utilities Systems Superintendent reviews, coordinates, and tracks cost of materials, tools, equipment, and labor related to utilities heating/cooling maintenance and operations; oversees contractors' conformance with University policies and procedures and engineering specifications as well as quality performance standards; introduces and implements safety training and accident prevention standards; oversees departmental compliance, including contractors, with all federal and state statutory codes and regulations as well as safety and environmental regulations; and addresses emergency or crisis management events promptly and effectively to ensure continuous operations in assigned areas.

Standing or walking with objects up to 25lbs; Sitting at computer workstation for extended periods; Repetitive motion.

7:00am - 3:30pm (Monday - Friday) *

*Hours of work may vary dependent upon situational factors, emergencies, and crisis management requiring evening(s), weekend(s), and holiday(s) response.



Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

MS Windows/Office; SAP; KRONOS

Driver's License - Preferred

Demonstrated knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of heating/cooling plants and systems.

Knowledge of the types and uses of chemicals used in water treatment.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques used in firing and operating high pressure coal or gas fired boilers and their auxiliary equipment.
