Job Description   

One tenure-track/tenured position in finance to begin August 2019. Applicants at the Assistant or Associate ranks will be considered.  Applicants at the Associate level may apply for the W. A. Franke Professorship when it is vacant (this professorship involves a research stipend and course release).

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate and MBA-finance courses, and a demonstrated commitment to intellectual contributions and evidence (or potential) of successful research publication is expected. The applicant will be expected to work with other faculty to create and implement innovative curricula and learning approaches. 

Minimum Qualifications   

For the Assistant Professor position:

  • Doctorate in home discipline or closely related field from an accredited institution; however, ABDs will be considered but will be appointed at the rank of instructor until degree is completed. The doctorate must be completed within one year of date of hire.
  • One year full-time teaching experience (or the equivalent in part-time teaching) in relevant coursework as shown by provision of teaching evaluations.
  • A research background sufficient for qualification as a Scholarly Academic per the AACSB and FCB Conditions of Faculty Service

For the Associate Professor position:

  • Doctorate in home discipline or closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Five years full-time teaching experience in relevant coursework as shown by provision of teaching evaluations.
  • A record of publications in refereed journals

Preferred Qualifications   

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching;
  • Demonstrated success in, and continuing commitment to, publication of scholarly work;
  • Ability to teach introductory level classes and proficiency in at least two of these four areas:  Corporate, Investments, International, and/or Risk Management/Insurance.
  • Desire to work with other faculty to create and implement innovative curricula and learning approaches;
  • Experience and or willingness to teach online and/or blended format courses.
  • Demonstrated ability or desire to teach and/or research in tandem with other faculty or team members;
  • Evidence or potential for excellence in working with multicultural constituencies.

Background Information   

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following:  a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment.  You may also be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

Faculty are hired on a contract basis, renewable according to terms of the Conditions of Faculty Service http://nau.edu/Provost/Resources-Policies/
Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan).  Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment.

If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment.
