Job Summary:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, provide advanced instructional help-desk technical support. Perform a variety of highly specialized technical support in installation, repair, configuration and alteration of instructional technology and software, servers, and peripheral equipment in a local and wide area network as well as wireless campus-wide. Work with project teams comprised of Information Systems, Network Administrators, and staff.


Respond to helpdesk calls and emails and provide advanced technical support to faculty, staff, and students. Services include; troubleshoot and repair hardware, software, peripherals and instructional technology campus-wide. Technical support for district owned mobile devices that utilize the campus wireless network. Document all tasks utilizing the Instructional Computing Services and Information Systems task list. Defer complex network issues to Information Systems staff.

Assist instructors and other college support staff in preparation of instructional materials or equipment for classroom and labs. Provide training and technical support for faculty, in resolution of software, hardware, and wireless network problems. Oversee the daily operation of instructional computer labs, smart classrooms and faculty offices for Macintosh and PC platforms.

Participate and attend college and district-wide technical support meetings.

Assist students in the classroom, laboratory, or other instructional environment to ensure proper use and care of instructional materials and equipment.

Communicate and work with vendors faculty, and staff and various district departments and personnel to answer questions, resolve problems and provide information concerning Macintosh and PC network operations, wireless connectivity, faculty computers, instructional lab operation and technical network issues, referring complex problems to Information Systems.

Operate a variety of tools including network management systems, drills, hide-a-way desk tools and other hand tools.
Evaluate, recommend and prepare all purchase requests relating to instructional technology, to include PC and Macintosh systems, , network equipment, faculty workstations, and instructional laptops, printers, district owned mobile devices, and software associated with these devices.

Maintain and set-up labs. Install and configure workstations, user accounts and images for servers, laptops, and standalone computers for the instructional computer labs and faculty.

Work with appropriate department to ensure software and hardware availability for students with disabilities.
Create and maintain computer lab images and carry out computer lab cloning methodologies. Work with vendors in providing installation, support, repair and maintenance in solving technical and software problems.

Create and maintain records, logs and files and generate reports related to; technology purchases, warranties, hardware inventory, Cisco network equipment, Instructional Service Outcomes and software licenses.

Create and monitor student and faculty accounts on server; monitor network security to ensure continuous operations of file server in compliance with software licenses.


Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from high school and any combination of education and experience equivalent to two years college level course work in, Mac Integration and network management.. Completion of Mac OS X software and OS X server programs including UNIX, and other related topics or equivalent experience. At least three years of successful work experience in the field of computer science, or a 2 year degree in Computer Science.

Cisco certification (CCNA), required or two years' work experience in installation and managing network equipment.

Network Administration and Software Application Certificates preferred.

Work experience in the use of computer hardware and software troubleshooting for area of assignment. Work experience in customer service, including public contact.
