Stanford ChEM-H and the Department of Biochemistry seek a talented and motivated Research Scientist in Protein Sciences at 100% FTE for a 2 year fixed term (possibility for renewal) to join our team. The desired candidate is detail-oriented, independent, and conscientious, with excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. The Research Scientist will participate in a research program aimed at creating novel vaccine candidates to protect against infectious disease. The laboratory utilizes chemistry, biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, virology and immunology. The Research Scientist will be expected to make original scientific contributions, develop novel protocols and procedures, and interpret and analyze results.

The position requires a motivated and self-directed scientist who enjoys pushing the boundaries of science and biotechnology. The successful candidate will contribute to most of the projects being pursued in the lab and must find mentoring to be rewarding.

The Research Scientist position requires a Ph.D. degree in the chemical or biological sciences, and comprehensive understanding of molecular biology, cell biology and biochemistry principles. Strong technical expertise in molecular biology, protein expression vector design, mammalian and microbial protein production, protein purification, and protein characterization required.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently in an accurate, efficient and technically rigorous manner are required. Excellent interpersonal, communication, record keeping abilities and ability to work collaboratively are imperative.
