Position Summary: Founded in 2007 at UNC-Chapel Hill, the Carolina College Advising Corps places recent UNC-Chapel Hill graduates, many of them first-generation students themselves, as college advisers in low-income high schools statewide. These advisers work in collaboration with school counselors, teachers, and administrators to increase college-going rates in the schools they serve. Advisers provide admissions and financial-aid advising to students and their families through one-on-one and group sessions that help students identify colleges that will prove to be a good match for their talents, interests, and aspirations. Advisers also help students complete admissions and financial-aid applications and enroll successfully at the schools they eventually choose. This position will lead campus initiatives that support the Carolina College Advising Corps and will assist the Program Director with day-to-day operations. This position will provide support for campus recruitment initiatives, help coordinate training for Advising Corps advisers, make travel arrangements and reconcile program reimbursements, travel expenses, and adviser budgets. The selected candidate will support the assistant program directors as they focus on community, district and high school partnerships and supervision of the advisers. He/she will assist in the development of the Advising Corps' strategic plan, goals, program initiatives, and perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director. The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Undergraduate Admissions and Program Director and is a member of the staff in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This position will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
