Job Description

Under general supervision of the Executive Director of Budget & Payroll, and in accordance with general guidelines and/or established procedures and laws, manages all time worked and time off request University faculty and staff through various methods and on-line programs (Workday HCM). Establishes new employee data files for all faculty and staff with regards payroll, tax and other data. Point of contact for Nonresident Alien Taxation issues. Provides excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides guidance to entire campus community on time and leave procedures. Manages and serves as the university focal point for guidance and training on the use of the Texas A&M University System time and leave Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) System applications. This consist of, but is not limited to, reviewing, auditing, reporting and correcting (if needed) FLSA and state compensatory (comp) time, vacation and sick leave.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, auditing and entry of employee (new and updated) payroll deduction data into the TAMUS Workday HCM system. Reviews system output reports to ensure data is entered correctly as specified on employee' s deduction forms.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliations of the benefit related General Ledger Clearing accounts for the Executive Director of Budget & Payroll Services to review and approve. Performs Ad-hoc statistical reporting on payroll deduction data using the TAMUS Business Objects querying system and Microsoft excel software on an 'as needed' basis.
  • Responsible for accurate completion of the Verification of Prior State Service.
  • Responsible for printing various payroll checks every payroll completion cycle.
  • Responsible for the accurate and compliant management of the data in the Arctic International GLACIER system, in collaboration with Student Business Services, and the Accounts Payable Department for appropriate taxation of foreign employees, students and University vendors.
  • Responsible for the accurate management of federal, state, and local garnishments, including court-ordered deductions,

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in applicable field and two years of related payroll experience.

KSAs
  • General knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations (i.e. FLSA, FMLA), as well as the Workday Human Capital Management System.
  • Strong math skills.
