Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
A minimum of 1 - 3 years relevant professional experience in higher education required, preferably in a curricular services, enrollment management, academic planning, or academic advising setting. Experience in a management or supervisory position is desired.
License or certificate:
The Assistant Registrar for Curricular Services serves as a deputy and advisor to the Associate Registrar of Curricular and Academic Management Services (CAMS) and is a self-assured, congenial, and productive member of the Registrar's Leadership Team. This position reports to the Associate Registrar of Curricular and Academic Management Services (CAMS). As an innovative and contributing member of the Leadership Team, the incumbent will assist in the establishment of the strategic short- and long-term direction of the office that enables the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Office of the Registrar to become an institutional resource with acknowledged credibility as a highly productive and collaborative partner with campus constituencies as well as a national model known for creativity, innovation, and service.
Working independently to manage the curricular team within the CAMS unit of the Office the Registrar, the Assistant Registrar will collaborate with the Associate Registrar of CAMS and the Assistant Registrar for Degree Audit to oversee the strategic direction and operational objectives of CAMS team. Functions and services of the curricular services area include: collaboration with the Office of Academic Planning and Institutional Research and academic units in the building of course data included in the course catalog, the monitoring and implementation of the curricular approval process; compilation, correction and publication of the Schedule of Classes information submitted by academic units; creation and enforcement of enrollment requisites that ensure appropriate student preparation prior to course enrollment; administration and scheduling of final examinations, including special summary group exams; maintenance and auditing of instructor data and reporting of instructor activity; implementation and maintenance of the curriculum management system; creating and maintenance of the University's academic calendar within the Student Information System; interpreting and enforcing campus and UW System policy, especially policies related to curricular development, implementation and scheduling.
The incumbent must demonstrate a passion and commitment for exploring and implementing strategies that contribute to the sustained development of Office of the Registrar staff. Build rapport and establish and maintain professional relationships with school/college representatives to continually enhance the student experience and support the teaching and learning mission of the institution.
