A Professional Research Assistant (PRA) position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Rosemary Rochford of the Department of Immunology and Microbiology, University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz. The laboratory studies malaria and immunity to EBV. The PRA will assist in studies that use a mouse model to develop anti-malaria drugs. The successful candidate for this position will be detail-oriented, organized, able to work independently as well as under supervision or in a team, and capable of learning several routine methodologies.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Provide general support to laboratory staff and PI.
- Maintain the laboratory and equipment in working and clean conditions.
- Maintain laboratory compliance to safety regulations.
- Collects, accurately records and analyzes data in conjunction with other research staff.
- Isolate human RBC and WBC from blood.
- Perform phlebotomy
- Measure levels of red blood cells in mice.
- Use, care and maintenance of animals.
- Perform flow cytometric analyses
- Perform ELISA assays.
- Perform PCR analyses.
- Perform microscopic analyses.
- Order reagents and materials and oversee inventory.
- Maintains laboratory records, supplies, samples in an organized manner.
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses.
- BS or BA degree in biology or related fields
- Experience and background in molecular biology, cellular immunology and animal models are highly desired.
- A minimum of 6 months work experience in a research lab
