About the Position

The Gymnastics Head Coach will report directly to the Senior Associate Athletics Director. The incumbent will be a positive energetic leader with the ability to teach, motivate, and recruit student athletes. This position is primarily responsible for coordinating all aspects of an NCAA Division I gymnastics program including, but not limited to, managing day-to-day operations; recruiting academically and athletically qualified student athletes; practice and competition preparation and coaching; scheduling; budget management; hiring and supervising assistant coaches; assisting with fund raising and adherence to NCAA, Conference and University rules and regulations; and developing positive relationships with faculty, staff, students, media, alumni and boosters while interacting successfully with department personnel and the University community.

This is a position in the CSU - Management Personnel Plan (MPP), and serves at the pleasure of the President. This position will require adherence to University compliance training such as: Conflict of Interest and Ethics, AB 1825 Sexual Harassment Prevention, Information Security, and Injury and Illness Prevention Program. The person hired for this position may be required to complete an outside employment disclosure statement in accordance with Title V of the California Code of Regulations.

Education and Experience

-Bachelors Degree and / or equivalent experience
-Three years collegiate or club coaching

Preferred Qualifications

-Three years of coaching at the Division I level

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

-Strong oral and written communication skills.
-Ability to speak publicly without difficulty.
-Strong commitment to the retention and academic achievement of student athletes.
-Demonstrated skill in training and instructing collegiate student-athletes.
-Successful collegiate coaching and recruiting experience.
-Knowledge of current coaching methodology.
-Advance knowledge and experience in managing intercollegiate sport team that includes exercising independent discretion and judgment.
-Excellent track record as an administrator adhering to policy and procedures.
-Ability to assist in the management of operational and grant-in-aid budgets.
-Knowledge and understanding of the collegiate model of intercollegiate athletics.
-Knowledge of and proficiency in NCAA rules and regulations.
-Ability to analyze situations and develop solutions.
-Ability to act as a mentor.
-Sensitivity to equity and diversity issues.
-Willingness and ability to participate in fundraising, revenue development, and budget development.
-Experience in organizing and motivating student athletes to maximum performance levels.
-Ability to work, communicate, and develop rapport with students, alumni, administration and community groups.
-Possession of a California Drivers License.
-Ability to hire, train, evaluate, supervise, and train employees.
