Position Summary:

Do you enjoy working with students and parents and offering them resources and assistance to make the college experience affordable?  Have a knack for communicating and connecting faculty and families to be eligible for student aid?  Then Saint Augustine’s University has a place for YOU!  We are looking for an individual with the necessary skills and expertise to oversee and manage our financial aid program.  The strong candidate will be able to plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of financial aid and will serve as the administrator of all Title IV student assistance, state, institutional and private funds.  The individual will also certify the Department of Veterans Affairs student eligibility.      

Responsibilities:               

  • Interprets and implements state and federal aid policies and regulations.
  • Maintains accurate and complete financial aid records and submits periodic reports to state and federal agencies. 
  • Counsels groups and individuals to enhance awareness of financial aid services and monitors student academic progress.
  • Monitors computer and electronic developments as they relate to financial aid. 
  • Utilizes computer assisted financial aid and record keeping.  Develops and monitors departmental budget.  
  • Provides information to prospective and enrolled students and presents financial aid programs within the community and area high schools. 
  • Develops and/or updates all institutional financial aid forms and maintains contact with state and federal agencies for necessary forms.
  • Updates printed information about financial aid programs, policies and application procedures. 
  • Reviews and inputs data from students’ files for all awards.
  • Serves on the scholarship committee, develops ranking system for scholarship committee and oversees the awarding process as prescribed by the donor.
  • Determines requirements for tuition waivers and maintains necessary documentation.
  • Participates in local, regional, state and federal organizations’ workshops to maintain current information on financial aid regulations. 
  • Counsels Veteran Affairs (VA) students regarding educational benefits and maintains familiarity with regulations to administer the VA program.  Maintains necessary documentation for certification of eligibility for veterans.
  • Assists with the selection, training, supervision and evaluation of office personnel.
  • Assists the administration in carrying out the mission of the college.
  • Coordinates work activities with other student development professionals.
  • Preforms other job-related duties as assigned in support of the University’s goals and core values..

Qualifications:.

Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Five (5) or more years of experience working within a community college or small University financial aid office setting.  Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills a must.  Supervisory experience a plus.  Knowledge of state and federal financial aid requirements (NC).  Capable of giving, receiving and analyzing information.  Ability to formulate work plans, and articulate goals and actions.  Ability to deal effectively with frequently stressful conditions.  Exceptional decision-making ability and maintain concentration levels while dealing with interruption. 

Physical Requirements:

Walking, bending, squatting, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
