Position Summary:

We are seeking qualified individuals to teach and advise in our Humanities department.  We are expanding and growing our services and we need YOU to be a part of our team.  Consider joining our Falcon family and help our students soar to success.  The Department of English invites applications to fill (3) positions to teach and advise majors on courses including but not limited to English composition and reading across disciplines.  Our goal is to expand the English curriculum to include digital, innovative and creative courses.  We also have (1) position to teach in any area and time-period of global black literary studies.  Applicants with an interest in African American, Afro-Latinx and black diasporic Anglophone literatures are encouraged to apply.  Timing is Fall 2018.                                                                          


  • Provide academic instruction to include but not limited to English or other related courses.
  • Develop a syllabus and instructional objectives to promote student creativity and innovation.
  • Develop and administer pre-and post-tests to assess current state and to implement improvement tactics and strategies.
  • Conduct and provide evidence of interest in research and publication. 
  • Teach on-campus, hybrid and/or on-line courses. 
  • Assist in the development and review of curriculum and serve on school and university committee(s). 
  • Hold and maintain office hours for student advisement and tutoring. 
  • Preforms other job-related duties as assigned in support of the University’s goals and core values.      

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Master or Ph.D. in English or related field for English Composition and Reading positions.  Ph.D. in English or related field required for the (tenure-track) for global black literary studies.                    

Physical Requirements:

Walking, sitting, standing, squatting, and lifting a minimum of 25 pounds.
