Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of International Engagement and Study Abroad, the coordinator is responsible for the development and administration of all study abroad programs at Lamar University. The coordinator will provide assistance in the development, implementation and marketing of all study abroad and exchange programs on campus.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary contact and source of information for the participants including application procedures, admissions decisions, orientation and advising.
  • Advise students on a variety of study abroad programs and exchange program opportunities
  • Manage program publicity, recruitment, logistics, finances, orientations, and re-entry events.
  • Plan and organize campus-wide study abroad fair bi-annually and represent the OSA at university events.
  • Conduct pre-departure orientation and evaluation for both faculty and students
  • Serve as a liaison between Lamar University and its partner organizations and institutions
  • Work closely with key offices on campus (i.e. Registrar, Financial Aid, Public Safety, academic units) to coordinate incoming and outgoing education abroad students.
  • Participate in the campus-wide initiatives on risk management, related to study abroad programs, including international health/safety insurance
  • Maintain study abroad database and statistics and prepare annual goals and reports
  • Regularly update the OSA website and social media activities with information related to study abroad and exchange programs
  • Assist incoming exchange students with admission and visa applications; pre-arrival questions; course registration; and serve as a liaison between the students and University community
  • Support student clubs' activities
  • Assist the Director with any other necessary assignments

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • 2 or more years of experience working in study abroad
    • Proficiency using Microsoft Office and database applications.
    • Excellent public speaking, presentation, writing and interpersonal skills are essential
    • A high level of self-sufficiency, combined with strong managerial, organizational, and administrative skills.
    • Personal and professional knowledge of international education
    • Willingness to work in the evenings and weekends
