Job Summary:

This position reports to the Assistant Director of College Library and provides critical administrative program support for the library. This position works closely with all College Library staff and partner staff in troubleshooting and managing day-to-day building and space-related issues, including security services. To that end, the position interacts regularly with the UW Division of Facilities Planning and Management as well as outside facility contractors and vendors. The position manages the lost and found service, distribution of keys, public bulletin boards, and the management of mail and delivery services. This position is responsible for inventory and supply management in support of both internal staff and public facing services. This position works closely with the General Library System (GLS) Business Office concerning the purchase of supplies and budget matters pertaining to current and planned building projects. The position also work closely with the GLS Human Resource office on personnel matters, including aspects of staff onboarding and exiting.

Regarding the security role, the position works closely with the UW Police Department on various security-related issues impacting College Library. This position meets regularly with other UW-Madison Library security officers and their supervisors to discuss security related issues, policies, and procedures. This position supervises the GLS Evening and Weekend Security Officer whose home base is College Library.

These responsibilities require good collaboration and communication skills, and a breadth of knowledge and skills relevant to facilities management, project management, business services, operations, space renovations, customer service, and security.
