**This position is open to internal candidates at the University of North Texas.**

Job Description
The Mayborn School of Journal-Gen Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Senior Academic Advisor to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Advanced knowledge of UNT policies and procedures.
* Advising Undergraduate Students.
* Troubleshooting advanced issues as they present.
* Assists with orientation, graduation, and recruitment events as needed.
* Making proper referrals to campus services.
* Assisting the Advising Director with training of advising office employees.
* Assisting the Advising Director with managing office support personnel.
* Assisting with reporting on key office initiatives.
* Managing FTIC initiatives for the department.
* Managing Orientation programming and Advising for the Department.
* Functions as a team leader for initiatives under the director's leadership.
* Assists with other projects and initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, or professional academic advising. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Strong presentation, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills.
* Advanced academic advising expertise.
* Ability to integrate and analyze information and develop reports.
* Ability to use a variety of complex computer applications.
* Ability to effectively manage projects and work teams.
* Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing with internal and external groups in a variety of settings.
* Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.
* Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's Degree and 3+ years of advising experience
* 3+ years experience with UNT policies and procedures
