The University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Professional Research Assistant. This full-time position is responsible for: Laboratory-based translational research on pediatric brain tumors. As well as conduct experiments, assist with project planning, data interpretation, team presentations and other laboratory duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
- Collaboration with PI or other PRAs
- Perform studies as related to research project
- Preparation of tissues, cell cultures, for testing
- Animal care related to research procedures
- Microscopic analysis
- Work with adenoviruses and retroviruses
- Perform DNA/RNA isolation
- Perform viral transduction
- Modify, test, verify and analyze research data
- Prepare samples for analysis by various instrumentation
- Record results of experiments
- Develop and maintain research databases
- Diagnose and solve system/software problems, install applications software as related to research needs
- Provide computational research and administrative support
- Conduct literature searches
- Training of laboratory personnel in experimentation techniques
- Prepare research presentations
PLEASE NOTE: Candidates will be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process and any relocation expenses, if applicable.
Salary and Benefits:
The hiring salary range for this position is $38,000-$45,000 and is based upon experience. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

- BS/BA in Cell Biology or closely related field
- One to three years of related research experience
Condition of Employment:
- Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
- Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check
Required Competencies: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to troubleshoot, design experiments, and collaborate amongst peers
- Excellent communication skills using the English language
- Experience in animal models
- Experience in microscopy
- Experience conducting experiments using: molecular biology techniques, including PCR, qPCR, cDNA synthesis
- Experience with statistical analysis methods
- Experience maintaining accurate documentation in a laboratory journal and reporting data obtained from separate projects, including oral presentations
