UNT competes as a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and C-USA. North Texas' athletic programs are classified as NCAA Division I, the largest and highest division among all colleges and universities. The 46,000 square-foot Athletic Center located off South Bonnie Brae Street is the centerpiece of North Texas athletics. Job Description
The Athletics Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Assistant Director of Academic Services to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

The Assistant Director of Academic Services serves as a valuable member of the Student-Athlete Academic Services staff to provide comprehensive academic support for all student-athletes. The Assistant Director position is responsible for supporting student-athletes by providing individual or group student advising on academic and career-related issues; assisting students in obtaining desired academic outcomes. A central resource and support to student-athletes, the Assistant Director will have a general understanding of the university's curriculum and advising structure, NCAA rules and regulations regarding student-athlete eligibility, and the unique needs of student-athletes.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Assists with mentoring and counsels students regarding information about their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and other personal characteristics.
* Assists with development of student-athlete orientation, retention and completion initiatives.
* Assists coaches, student-athletes, and recruits with University requirements and individual program requirements including applicability of transfer credits in a timely and professional manner.
* Meeting with student-athletes in assigned sports to appraise their individual academic strengths and weaknesses and to discuss academic, career and personal concerns; responsible for the organization of study hall for all student athletes.
* Creates daily study hall reports and weekly progress reports for the assigned coaching staff; lead person for meeting with head coaches, assistant coaches and support staff monthly and as required by the coaching staffs.
* Develops and implements programs by working with the Director of Academic Services to design and implement a wide range of instructional activities, materials, programs, services, and strategies for use with individuals, small groups, and/or department wide.
* Identifies issues with policies and regulations, and recommends changes; interprets academic regulations and serves as a resource for students, faculty, parents and athletics staff.
* Coordinates the administrative processes involved in supporting academic programs which typically include recruitment, selection, registration, orientation, and progression of students specialized orientation programming for freshman/transfer student-athletes.
* Assists with academic planning and enrollment for summer school and fifth year.
* Maintains a viable working relationship with athletic administrators, coach's faculty, university support staff, and parents by contacting and interacting frequently with academic advisors and student service departments to access the academic progress/status of the student athletes.
* Communicates frequently with coaching staff, director of academics services, apprising them of academic progress by maintaining individual performance records and preparing periodic reports
* Participates in continued education, professional development, and training including active participation in NCAA sponsored seminars, conference meetings, applicable conventions and academic services education.
* Provides academic advising to assigned pre-major student-athletes.
* Other duties as assigned by Senior Associate AD for Academics, Senior Associate AD for Compliance, and/or Executive Staff Member.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in in related field and two years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Master's Degree.
* Knowledge and understanding of NCAA rules and regulations.
