Engineer Associate I/Research

Job description

The Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments is currently seeking an Engineering Associate I for the software design and development team. This position will join the Digital Restoration Initiative, which investigates software solutions for how to read textual materials from non-invasive digitization methods. Responsibilities of this position will include the design and analysis of algorithms and their implementation as a computer software system for the purpose of solving research questions at the frontier of digital restoration. This position will require expertise in digitization systems, geometric and media-based computer algorithms, software engineering, the management of software engineers, the ability to build and maintain an integrated development environment, and the management of complex computational infrastructure and data repositories.

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects over 50lbs.


Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm; and occasional weekends due to travel.


Programming experience with CMake, C++, and QT strongly preferred. Experience with 3D data and modeling would be preferred.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?

Preferred Education/Experience

Experience with hyperspectral imagery.
Experience with medical imagery a plus.

Bachelor's degree and two years of experience in Engineering are preferred.
