HR Manager/College of Public Health

Job description

The College of Public Health is seeking a full-time HR Manager to join our business office at the University of Kentucky.

This position will administer and manage human resources, including payroll with campus-wide HR management software as well as a broad range of HR activities.

Specifically, the HR Manager's main job responsibilities include the following:
Administer and manage human resources and payroll centrally for the College of Public Health to ensure staff and faculty hires are processed and oriented. This includes but is not limited to oversight of faculty appointments, promotions, phased retirements and retirements, distributions of effort and verification of their funding sources.

Will maintain and update the Faculty Effort System client for faculty, staff and students. Various faculty payments and overloads. Coordinate new staff hiring, salary recommendations, promotions, demotions.

Perform annual review of all position descriptions and/or modifications, and updates in the Integrated Employment System (IES); play a key role in managing disciplinary actions; visa processing, FMLA, and work-life issues.

Responsible for facilitating a seamless workflow processing payroll and have the ability to assess and find venues to improve processes. Serve as a resource and advisor to Dean and Associate Deans on complex faculty and staff issues as they relate to human resources and/or payroll.

Review all offer letters to faculty, staff, post docs, visiting scholars and graduate students. Lead, participate and/or have input on special projects within the College of Public Health.
Provide leadership and supervision of staff on the College of Public Health departmental administrative staff.

Coordinate and oversee the performance evaluation process for all staff in the college. Complete performance evaluations on an at least annual basis. Foster positive and open communication through regular staff meetings.

Model and promote excellent customer service for internal and external customers. Responsible for expanding professional knowledge through training, classes and seminars of UK policy, procedures and systems to better serve customers, external units, and UK. Serve on college-wide and university-wide committees as necessary and/or appropriate.
