As WGU continues to increase its student population, innovation and scalability are key to our mission to improve the lives of our students. WGU is seeking an experienced leader to manage our agile Scrum Master team. This includes managing, mentoring, and standardizing processes for both agile and waterfall projects. Responsibilities include managing both software development and business process projects, driving project teams over the entire project lifecycle, while adhering to SDLC and process best practices.


  • Lead, manage, mentor, and build the agile project leadership team
  • Lead the efforts around project delivery methodology creation, standardization, and optimization
  • Identify and report on the critical metrics for ensuring successful project completions and customer satisfaction
  • Ensure each team is managing the value their product provides to the student or faculty
  • Align processes with other departments to ensure efficient workflow and promote best practice implementations
  • Track impediments and do whatever is necessary to remove them. Communicate and escalate as required
  • Forecast resource and capacity requirements to meet demand and growth requirements within budget
  • Create short and long-term goals that align to department and corporate goals and strategies
  • Participate in cross-departmental committees, improvement efforts (kaizens), and strategy sessions
  • Identify, document, resolve and/or escalate issues to the appropriate level


  • 3+ years of experience in management required
  • 4-year degree or equivalent experience required
  • 5+ years of Project Management experience in software delivery required
  • SAFE or PMP certification highly preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Lean, Kanban and Waterfall
  • Passionate about having light weight, effective processes and methodologies that will improve the productivity of the organization
  • Hands on experience with running Scrum Teams, Program Teams and large technology initiatives
  • Proven ability to de-escalate customers and recover failing projects
  • Student success obsessed mindset required
  • Strong communication and presentation skills required
  • The ability to contribute to a strong leadership team required
