Classification Title: Academic Advisor I
Division: Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
Department: Advising Center

Nature of Work    
Provide academic advising to specified student populations in the undergraduate programs. Assist with Academic Advising for new and transfer students at orientations. Maintain detailed records of appointments including information disseminated to students; refer students to appropriate campus resources; adhere to all policies associated with the university, particularly those regarding confidentiality of student information. Participate in outreach efforts to connect students to advising and to increase graduation and retention rates. Ability to use technology including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Grades First, Student Success Collaborative, College Scheduler and Banner.

Required Qualifications    
Bachelor’s degree required. Prefer one year of experience in higher education, in advising or related area such as student academic support, housing, or other area of student affairs. Possess an understanding of student developmental theory.
Salary    $35,796 minimum - $46,740 midpoint

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions    
Normal office environment. The ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Travel across campus required.
