The RN-Staff/Clinical Nurse at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Department will assist in delivering high quality, efficient medical care in an outpatient setting. The position is responsible for patient flow, nursing assessment, blood draws, procedures and administration of immunizations which are adapted to the patient's development stage.
Primary responsibilities will be delivering direct nursing care and coordination of care to children with a variety of health care needs and their families within the ambulatory clinic; establishing and maintaining a quality standard of nursing care for the pediatric population by partnering with the healthcare team; providing individual assistance to patients, families and caregivers to help identify and overcome barriers which may hinder quality medical patient care; educating and counseling patients and families; providing information and feedback to referring physicians and third party payers; and triaging patient calls utilizing delineated protocols. In addition, the RN-Staff/Clinical Nurse, as part of the Quality Improvement Team, will participate in quality improvement activities and seminars; use patient tracking reports to identify patients missing care and conduct outreach efforts; maintain a registry of high risk patients, and coordinate the care of these patients. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
Professional licensure as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of PA. Experience in a pediatric primary care/ambulatory care setting.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, MS Excel and data entry functions.
*Demonstrated ability to use an electronic medical records system.
*Ability to collaborate with multiple health care providers and agencies.
*Ability to work independently and make autonomous decisions.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse population of physicians, staff, students and patients.
*Must possess a professional demeanor and initiative to seek information.
*Demonstrated critical thinking skills through use of the nursing process.
