Network Engineer II
Job Description Summary:

This position is responsible for the implementation and support of network systems and integrated technical systems in support of Miami University’s academic, research and business missions.
Assist in the planning and design of network systems in accordance with university standards.
Assist in the installation and support of network systems, network applications and services.
Maintain network documentation and databases for network systems,
Assist in analyzing system issues and improving network systems and operations
Recommend upgrades based on technical trends or changes in network technologies
Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of network systems in conjunction with necessary security programs and policies
Assist in translating business needs into technical solutions. Communicate technical information to team members and other institution-wide staff.
Serve as team member, active participant and contributor for IT initiatives and projects.
Assist with service disruptions including classification, prioritization and initiation of action, documentation of facts, analysis of root cause, and implementation of remedies
Maintain accurate records, resolve customer service requests including help desk tickets as applicable.
Maintain focus on the highest levels of service and customer satisfaction.
Provide quotations and specify materials for purchase on an ongoing basis
Participate in professional development activities.
May teach one credit bearing course per semester and with divisional approval.
Carry a mobile phone and maintain availability for on-call rotation. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to drive service vehicles.
Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field earned by date of hire.
Minimum 2 years experience supporting or designing a large-scale multi-building wired and wireless network environment
Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience providing the knowledge/skills/abilities listed above may be substituted. Experience in these knowledge/skills/abilities may be earned concurrently.
