Duties: The University of Pennsylvania's program in Asian American Studies (ASAM) was established in Fall 1996 as a result of joint student, staff, and faculty efforts. An interdisciplinary program that offers a minor and a broad range of courses and activities, it explores the historical and contemporary experiences of Asian immigrants and of persons of Asian ancestry in North America. The Latin American and Latino Studies (LALS) Program was established in Fall 1988 also as a result of joint student, staff, and faculty efforts. LALS is an interdisciplinary program that offers a major and a minor with a broad range of courses, spanning the study of the history, arts, languages, cultures, societies, politics, and/or regional organizations of Latin American and Caribbean countries as well as Latino communities and individuals in the United States.'

The Administrative Assistant position assists in all the daily administrative operations of the ASAM/LALS programs under the supervision of the Associate Directors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: provide administrative coordination for faculty, including arranging meetings and coordinating calendars; organize and supervise program events, including lectures, conferences, fellowships and award competitions; participate and assist in the organization of the open house and new student events; supervise and coordinate travel arrangements for visitors and faculty as requested; submit Concur and Ben Financial requests. This is a 10-month limited service position.

Qualifications: High School Diploma and 3 years to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Must have the ability to work with work study students; excellent analytical and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines required; experience in managing budgets; must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; computer proficiency (Windows, Word, Excel, Filemaker); web skills desired including Photoshop and Illustrator. Knowledge of Concur and Ben Financial desired.
